At present, the specific methods of preventing electromagnetic pulses from foreign command communication systems include selecting the best components, using components such as electronic tubes, which are not easily affected by electromagnetic pulses, installing filters on connectors, using external protective components to protect pre packaged circuits, making use of lead protective devices and using separation filtering. To limit the coupling frequency to a very narrow band; use automatic gain control and gain restriction; use special filters; use circuit isolation technology to isolate electrical transients; shield and grounding; redesign sub systems; detect data errors caused by electromagnetic pulse interference and reject these data.

The electromagnetic pulse protection method is basically the same as the lightning protection method. The shield made of 9.5 mm thick steel plate or 4 mm thick copper plate can provide a high overall shielding effectiveness. However, such shielding will be weakened due to the presence of small holes in the access door and cables, connectors, switches and so on, so that the pores must be sealed with gaskets. If it is necessary to open the hole, the large holes should be divided into many small holes, and the place where the holes and holes are intersected must be fused so as to ensure the best shielding effect. Cables must use integral protective materials. The best cable protection materials are conductive solid materials such as pipes. Appropriate grounding lines are also important in helping to reduce vulnerability. If the data transmission rate is low, the filtering method can be used to suppress the instantaneous effect. If only the filter is not enough to reduce the electromagnetic pulse to a safe level, a protective suppressor, such as a zener diode, is needed.
